OQ-45 – Outcome Questionnaire

The Outcome Questionnaire OQ-45 is used to assess physical complaints and general functioning in adults. The questionnaire contains 45 items and 3 sub-scales:

  • Symptom Distress (SD): 25 items that measure the most common psychiatric disorders
  • Interpersonal Relationship (IR): 11 items that measure difficulties regarding social interactions with a partner, friends, and family
  • Social Role (SR): 9 items that measure functioning at school, work and leisurely activities.

Patients fill in this 45-item questionnaire within approximately 5 minutes. OQ-45 is a unique measuring instrument in that it combines functioning and complaints outcomes. Its reliability has been demonstrated in many Dutch and international studies. Thanks to these advantages, the test has become one of the most widely used measuring instruments in the world.

Using measurements to improve care

SAM Healthcare Monitor provides insight into the OQ-45 grand total scores for your patient population. The graph above shows the results by sub-scale at the start and completion of the trajectory. This allows you to spot any underlying issues at a glance. The treatment effects of each dimension are expressed in T-score and Reliable Change.

Measurement results can be specified by selecting, for example, diagnosis, case mix variables and treatment characteristics. This provides  a clear overview of the treatment effects for each of your patient groups.
